Improving Almaty's Street Child-Friendliness
The project with the involvement of students of lyceum No. 71 aims at studying the quality of the urban environment in Almaty-1 off-center district. The project curated by the architect Altynai Imanbekov focuses on the areal friendliness to children and adolescents, safety for pedestrians and the diversity of functions. The project is being implemented with the support of Chevron.
Between February and April 2019, we hold weekly meetings with students to teach them to look at the city with the eyes of the urbanists, take measurements and look for the best solutions to minimize car traffic and improve the quality of urban environment. Students explore the area within the radius of 500 meters from the school. The project will result in the development of the transformation concept for the district and public spaces there.
